How roller shades control light.

Choose blackout or a solar-screen fabric in 1%, 3%, or 5% openness. Find the balance of daylight, glare control, and outward view that suits your room.

Blackout

For a darker room

Opaque fabric blocks light through the material and the view through the shade. Light can still enter around the edges.

1% openness

A tighter weave

A more enclosed view with strong glare control. A good starting point when reducing bright daylight is your priority.

3% openness

A balanced view

A middle option for filtered daylight and a view outside. Compare a sample against your room’s light and privacy needs.

5% openness

A more open view

A more open weave offers a clearer view outdoors than 1% or 3% in a comparable fabric.

What do the percentages mean? Openness describes the spaces in the fabric’s weave, not the percentage of light entering your room. A lower number means a tighter weave.

Illustrations show the relative effect, not exact fabric performance. Colour and lighting affect the view and privacy; solar-screen fabrics do not guarantee privacy at night. Compare actual samples during your free in-home consultation.

The fit is part of the result.

Inside or outside the frame

An inside mount sits within the recess; an outside mount extends beyond it. Frame depth, handles, and wall space affect the choice.

Finish and controls

Compare available fabric colours, textures, and headrail finishes. Manual and compatible motorized controls are available.
